Tropaeolum minus ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’
DWARF BLUSH PINK NASTURTIUM

Tropaeolum minus ‘Tip Top Alaska Pink Blush’ has flowers of the most delicious soft cream blushed with shades of pink.

Delicious creamy-pink blush colour

The blooms are really lovely shades of cream and warm pink blushes, varying as the flowers open then mature.
With the pink becoming more accentuated if the plant is grown in part-shade.
The sweetly blushing blooms are beautifully contrasted against 50 cent sized, round green leaves.

Flowers & leaves edible with spicy flavour

Both flowers and leaves also have a delicious spicy flavour.

Dwarf & compact colour feature for small gardens & pots

Nasturtiums are often known as climbers or sprawling runners.
But little ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’ is a petite, dwarf and compact Nasturtium, not a large, trailer or climber.
Instead it stays as a neat pudding shaped little clump.
So it is perfect for small gardens or pots, as it does not sprawl about, climb or run.

Hanging baskets or veggie patch – without hogging all the space

And can be cheerfully grown in the veggie patch without it hogging all the space.
It is also brilliant in a hanging basket outside the kitchen door where the colour of both flowers and foliage can really shine; and you can nibble on a leaf or flower whenever you wish.

Good for salad & vases

‘Tip Top Pink Blush’ is a prolific bloomer, so gardener/cooks can enjoy those cheery blooms all through spring summer and autumn – in the garden, in the vase, as well as in the kitchen.

Deliciously edible

The flowers, leaves, plus the young seed pods, are all deliciously edible.
Adding a spicy, peppery flavour to salads and cooking, as well as vivid colour contrast.
So seed pods are sometimes knick-named “False Capers”, and you can certainly use them as you would Capers.
Plus the flowers make such a colourful, as well as edible, garnish for any dish.
Try ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’ petals with strawberries – yum for the taste buds and the eyes.

Easy, low maintenance

Tropaeolum minus ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’ grows in Full Sun to Part Shade.
Preferring soil on the poorer side rather than rich, otherwise it may grow lavish leaves and less flowers.

Water-wise & drought resistant

And once established ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’ requires little water.
So it is a water-wise and drought resistant plant.
And easy and rewarding to grow, plus low maintenance once established in the garden or pot.

Quick & easy from seed

Tropaeolum minus ‘Tip Top Pink Blush’  is quick and easy to germinate from seed, both sown directly in the garden as you would sow peas.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY

Suitable for beginners, kids & veggie plots

Seed can be sown at any time – directly into the garden as you would sow peas
OR
In small pots / punnets indoors for quick and early results.

First soak the seeds overnight in a glass of warm (not boiling) water, then sow next day.

Sow indoors for quick plants & early flowers: First sow the seeds into small pots filled with good quality seed raising mix.
Then cover the seed with mix to the same depth as the diameter of the seed.

Now moisten the sown punnet / pots thoroughly by standing in a shallow water bath and allowing the moisture to percolate up to the surface of the mix from below.

Then place the punnet / pots in a well-lit, warm place such as a window sill (not in direct sunlight), or on a heat mat if you have one.
Nasturtium seeds love warmth to germinate rapidly.
Temperatures of 15-20 degrees C. are optimum for rapid germination.

Continue to keep moist by misting from a spray water bottle.
Covering the punnet with a clear cover, or plastic bag, will also help to maintain consistent moisture.

Seedlings will emerge in 10-12 days.

Seed Count: 10 large seeds per pack approx.
We always aim to exceed the stated seed count and give a generous serve.
