Where it took the Chelsea Flower Show by storm when it was first revealed.
Now no society English bride would be seen dead without bouquets of ‘Amazing Grey’ on her stylish wedding tables. And interior decorators cant get enough of it for glossy magazine shoots.

So Papaver rhoeas ‘Amazing Grey’ really is a wow as a cut flower.
And providing a steady stream of flowers through spring and summer.
Can’t kill it with an axe
But despite all glamourous trendy looks – this really is a tough old hardy, cant kill it with an axe – Flanders Poppy after all.
So it is a very reliable self-seeding annual.
And once you have some garden plants to start with, then it will just continue to self-sow each year.

And it is very quick & easy from seed, both sown indoors in punnets, or scattered in the garden.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Sow seeds at any time in punnets indoors / or scatter in garden in autumn or spring.
SOWING INDOORS: Sow seed thinly onto the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then press the seeds gently into the surface of the mix.
Cover with 6mm of sieved mix.
Seeds of Papaver rhoeas need dark to germinate.
So cover the sown punnet with a piece of cardboard or black plastic.
Keep the punnet moist & check daily for sprouts, as you need to remove the cover once the seeds have begun to germinate.
Place the punnet in a warm position, or on a temperature controlled heat mat if you have one.
Burt Papaver rhoeas are very forgiving and easy seeds to germinate
Temperatures of 16-24°C are optimum for rapid and thorough germination.
Then the seed germinates in 7-21 days approx.
