Myosotis sylvatica compacta ‘Victoria pink’
DWARF FORGET-ME-NOT
Myosotis sylvatica compacta ‘Victoria pink’ is a baby-pink, dwarf form of the classic Forget-Me-Not.
Carpet of sweet baby pink
Blooms are true baby-pink, each with a bright white eye and a sweet scent.
And flower as a massed carpet of dainty little blossoms wafting fragrance.
Compact low groundcover
‘Victoria pink’ is a compact, low, ground-hugging plant.
Perfect for planting under roses, shrubs or trees; filling a decorative container; and planting down banks.
Dwarf Forget-Me-Not is invaluable for overplanting spring flowering bulbs.
Because the Forget-Me-Nots bounce up in flower just at the right time to cover the tatty mess of the bulbs dying off.
Try pink, white or burgundy tulips overplanted with ‘Victoria pink’ – pretty as a picture.
Longer blooming than normal Forget-Me-Not
This little Dwarf Forget-Me-Not is very long blooming.
As it blooms through summer as well as in spring.
It is actually a perennial, but is such a reliable little self-sower that it always provides new, fresh babies for next year.
The babies are easy to dig up and share, or weed out, if they pop up where you don’t want them.
Bone hardy & easy to grow
Myosotis are bone hardy and easy to grow.
They can tolerate both Sun or Shade. Though in hotter districts they enjoy to grow under trees and shrubs or in afternoon shade.
And they can tolerate a wide range of soils, including clay. Though well-drained soil with added organic matter such as old leaves, is their favourite.
While they can tolerate both acid or alkaline lime pH.
Bees & pollinators love them
Bees, butterflies, and other useful pollinating insects flock to the carpet of blooms, rich in both pollen and nectar.
Pest resistant including rabbits & deer
Though the plants are rarely if ever troubled by pests and diseases.
Including rabbits and deer.
Myosotis are also well able to withstand hard frosts to at least -20C.
The family name of Myosotis means “mouse ears” referring to the softly furry little leaves.
SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids
Myosotis sylvatica compacta ‘Victoria pink’ seeds can be sown directly in the garden in spring / or indoors at any time for early advanced plants.
INDOORS: First sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then gently pat the seeds to the surface of the mix to ensure good contact.
And cover only lightly with sieved mix, grit or vermiculite.
Because these seeds need light for germination.
Now place in a warm, well-lit position (not in direct sun).
And continue to keep moist.
Covering the punnet with a clear plastic lid helps to maintain moisture.
And you can use a heat mat if you have one, but it is not essential as these seeds are willing germinators.
Temperatures around 18-20°C. are ideal for rapid and optimum germination.
Then seeds germinate in 10-20 days.
SEED COUNT: 150 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count and give a generous serve).
