Limonium sinuatum ‘Forever Happy’
HAPPY STATICE
Limonium sinuatum ‘Forever Happy’ is a splendid recent release – with the most beautiful soft blends of colours in the flower trusses.
Soft blends of lilac, pink, salmon & apricot in large flower trusses
‘Forever Happy’ has certainly made cut flower growers, professional florists, as well as home gardeners very happy.
With it’s soft, pretty shades of lilac, pink, salmon and apricot, blending through very large flower trusses.
Borne on tall, strong stems (the more you cut the longer the stems become with this variety).
A joy for commercial flower growers & florists + home gardens
Needless to say ‘Forever Happy’ is indispensable as a commercial cut flower for florists, as well as for home gardeners.
And so useful with that beautiful colouring, long, clean stems and particularly large trusses of flowers.
Everlasting cut flowers
The abilities of Statice to last for ages in a vase are well known, either when it is picked fresh or used dried.
And ‘Forever Happy’ holds her pastel colouring so well, for so long.
The flowers also remain well coloured when dried as everlastings, with an emphasis on the lilac shades when dried, lasting without looking shabby or faded.
Quick & easy to grow from seed
Limonium sinuatum ‘Forever Happy’ is very quick and easy to grow from seed.
And if you start your seed in good time you can harvest blooms right through the same summer and autumn.
Thrives in a hot sunny garden
‘Forever Happy’ is drought tolerant once established in the garden or field.
It revels in the sun and heat of summer.
So it is ideal for gardeners with hot conditions or limited water, seaside, sandy and windy sites.
Tolerant of salt laden air as well as some salt in the water or soil, and resistant to wind too.
And it is not choosy about soil type either, as long as the soil is well drained.
So easy to raise & grow from seed
Limonium sinuatum ‘Forever Happy’ is fast growing.
It is actually a perennial in warm areas, but is so quick to grow it is often used as an annual.
Statice is very quickly and easily raised from seed, and just as easily grown in the garden.
The seeds germinate in under a week, and plants are in flower in approx. 3 to 3.5 months from the day of sowing the seeds.
60-70cm High in flowers x 30cm Wide flat to the ground foliage clump.
Rabbits & deer are not keen
The tough leaves, stems and papery flowers are not attractive to rabbits and deer.
So the pests tend to leave it at the bottom of their menu selection.
But bees, butterflies & useful pollinators flock to Statice
While bees, butterflies and our other pollinating friends just love Statice flowers for their abundant nectar and pollen.
And appreciate them for their very long blooming season through all the hot months when many other flowers have already given up.
How to dry Statice Flowers: Simply cut the stem to the base, remove the foliage, and hang the upside-down in a dry, well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight, such as a pantry or garage.
Limonium sinuatum ‘Forever Happy’ holds its lilac shades for years when dried.
SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suitable for beginners & gardening with kids
Seeds can be sown directly in the garden in spring / or indoors at any time for early advanced plants. Early indoor sowing will give the longest blooming season.
Sow indoors for quick & early plants: First sow the seeds in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
Then gently pat the seeds to the surface of the mix to ensure good contact.
And cover lightly to a depth of 6mm approx. with sieved mix, grit or vermiculite.
Now place in a warm, well-lit position (not in direct sun).
And continue to keep moist.
Covering the punnet with a clear plastic lid or bag helps to maintain moisture.
Light aids germination.
And you can use a heat mat if you have one, but it is not essential as these seeds are willing germinators.
Temperatures around 20-25°C. are ideal for rapid and optimum germination.
Then seeds germinate in 5-14 days.
Seed Count: 50 seeds per pack approx.
(We always aim to exceed the stated seed count, and give a generous serve).
