Wonderful Iris sibirica New Hybrids are a mix of seed gathered from some of the latest and most beautiful, newly released Siberian Iris.

So they bear elegant Iris blooms in a mix of colours from white, purple, pink, and through blue shades, with each bloom beautifully marked.

The plant forms a neat clump of upright fine sword foliage.

Plant these lovely Iris sibirica New Hybrids in Part Shade to Full Sun.
Where they are frost hardy, easy to grow & low maintenance.

Iris sibirica is a deciduous Iris, and so easily able to cope with heavy frosts.
But don’t let the mention of Siberia in the common name fool you.
While these beautiful Iris do grow in parts of Siberia, they actually have a very wide native range covering a diversity of climates, including hot areas far from the cold of Siberia.

So they can be found thriving completely untended in Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria and widely across Eastern Europe and Russia (as well as in many Australian gardens).
And their popularity in Australian gardens, as well as the many beautiful new hybrids bred here, are testament to their suitability to Australian gardens throughout the temperate areas.
They are now recognized as some of the hardiest and easiest of Iris for Australian gardens

90cm. High in elegant bloom x 60cm. Wide clump of very upright, slender sword-like foliage.

SEED SOWING ADVICE:

Sow in punnets indoors / or sow directly in the garden autumn or winter.

INDOORS: First rub the seeds between your hands with some sharp sand to score the seed case. Then soak seeds in warm (not boiling) water.
And leave stand in the cooling water for 24 hours.

Now drain the seeds and sow in a punnet on the surface of good quality seed raising mix.
And cover with grit/mix/sand/vermiculite to depth the same as the of seed’s diameter.

Place the punnet in a warm, well-lit position (not in direct sunlight).
Continue to keep the punnet moist at 16 to 21°C for 2-4 weeks.

Then wrap the moist, sown punnet in cling wrap or a plastic bag & place in the fridge (not freezer) for 4-6 weeks.

Now remove from fridge, unwrap punnet & place again in a warm, well-lit position.

Temperatures 12-21°C approx. are ideal for rapid and optimum germination.

Seedlings emerge within approx. 30 days.
But patience – do not discard punnet, as some seedlings may come later.
