Ammi majus
QUEEN ANNE’S LACE

Highly fashionable with florists, Ammi majus (commonly known as Queen Anne’s Lace) is one of the best white vase fillers.
It produces a spectacular mist of fine lacy, white flowers on tall, branched, slender stems.

Finest lace flowers

And the flowers are so fine they are named after the exquisite lace embroidered for the collars of Queen Anne (though there is some dispute as to which Queen Anne – but they all had beautiful fine lace collars – so does it matter!)
And even the foliage is dainty, pretty and lacy.

Beloved cut flower for florists

So you can cut armloads of white lacy stems, which last 10 days in vase.
Or florists can also use them dyed or dried.

Romantic garden display

However Ammi majus is very pretty just left to naturalize in the garden, where it will fill in any gaps between shrubs, roses and under trees with that misty, romantic look.

Super easy to grow

Because Ammi majus will happily foam away in either Sun or Shade.
And it is a water-wise, low maintenance, no-care, self-sowing annual which is with you year after year with little to no effort by you.
It is quick and very easy to raise from seed.

“Bees-knees” for pollinators

The “bees-knees” for bringing pollinators into the garden and supporting our bees.
And while deer dislike the taste and avoid eating it, bees and other beneficial pollinating insects think Ammi majus is the “bees knees” and go into a frenzy of delight and feasting on the nectar.

Self-sowing annual.

120cm H x 60cm W.

SEED SOWING ADVICE: QUICK & EASY
Suits beginners & gardening with kids

Can be scattered in garden with excellent results. Or for quicker and earlier plants – sow indoors in deep pots (as seedlings have a long tap root). Sow seeds from mid-autumn until early spring.

Optimum germination is at 15-20C.

Sow indoors for quick plants & early flowers:
Sow the seeds in very small clumps in deep pots.
Because they quickly develop long tap roots and need to be planted into the garden without pricking out.

First sow the seeds onto surface good quality seed raising mix and lightly cover with mix / fine grit or vermiculite to depth of 5mm.

Then stand the pots in a shallow water bath and allow the moisture to percolate through to the surface of the mix from below.

Now place the tray of pots in a warm, well lit position (not in any direct sunlight).

Continue to keep consistently moist by misting from a spray water bottle.
Covering the pots with a clear plastic lid, or clear plastic bag will help to maintain consistent moisture.

Optimum germination is at 15-20C.
You can use a temperature controlled heat mat if you have one, but it is not essential.
These seeds are willing germinators.

Germination is generally in 7-21 days.

Seed Count: 500 seeds per pack approx.
